If you're not a member of Bookcrossing, you should be. (It's like a global library.)

Something to consider, anyway.

Then, again, I suppose that like me it could just wind up feeding your insatiable need to fill up your house with books you won't get to for years if ever. Yikes!

Anyway ... nice article on Bookcrossing:

We have three book shelves filled and still have a rather daunting pile sitting in front of them that needs to be dealt with before our winter party. Of course, a lot of them are total chaff, so it's a matter of having the time and the bookcases.

Book carpeting -- not a bad idea. Just grab some glue, push them in, and lacquer over the top.

I am the same way with books. I love the new shelves. I've been trying to convince my husband to buy me a new bookshelf for over a year now, and our entire extra closet is filled with boxes of books that I can't bear to part with. I'm thinking I just need to have him take them to the used book store when I'm out of town or something.

Great shelf. All our books are in the dog's bedroom in the basement. We like to think he reads them when we are at work or away.

Mr. S and I, after a long discussion, have decided to throw. EVERYTHING. away. Including the most precious mementos, like my little stuffed bunny I took everywhere with me when I was a kid. We agreed that we would just photograph it all and make a printed album of our memories. It's just stuff, we agreed! Just worthless silly stuff!

Sounds good, right? HA! HA! Somehow I'm thinking we won't get past my first babydoll, Margaret, or Mr. S's beloved stuffed penguin, Pengo.

Congratulations on finding some chaff. It's tougher than it looks.
