It is five months to the day after that first intubation, the one that happened down the hall from the operating room where my innards were being carefully replaced. I’ll let Mr. Astaire say the rest.
The First Day of The Rest of Her Life.

That was quite possibly the BEST video I’ve ever seen. I found your blog yesterday, and am just thrilled that Simone is off oxygen! And she is quite the dancer, I might add.
Hey, it’s a lot easier to spin a baby around the room without a cannula, huh? Yay for Simone!
Excellent! Simone is not only beautiful and wonderful, she’s astoundingly talented. Very nice. I’ve now had to watch this video 7 times in a row because my 4 year old daughter came in while it was playing and has become obsessed with it. “Again! Again!” She finally decided we could stop watching it (needs a potty break), but as she walked out of the office, she said over her shoulder, “I love Simone.” So. Damn. Cute. Thanks for sharing!
Yay Simone! I especially loved her concentration face during her tap solo! :)
That’s my favorite ickle girl!
Inspired choice of music! Love it, love it!
Congrats to you and Simone just luxiouriating in all that freedom! Now take her out for a walk in the park (think of Seurat). Walking with a baby is one of the greatest ways to burn off any baby weight.
Beautiful baby – no wonder she keeps winning that baby of the week award.

She’s SO adorable! =) I’m so proud of her!
Your talents have no end!
Awesome video + music + baby!!
The video is great. And the bigger picture with Simone’s amazing progress since her birth is even greater!
That was very cute. I have checked back over a dozen time in the last two days to see if you had gotten the results yet. I am very happy for you. I also think the tapping was adorable. Thank you for sharing with us.
Bravo, just Bravo.
Fancy moves, Miss Simone!! You are giving Mr. Astaire a run for his money… This video has me grinning from ear to ear, and not just because is 100% cannula-free. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the number one feel-good movie of the summer (OK, maybe second to my own recent feature of my daughter crawling for the first time…)
oh, i needed these giggles! thank you, you gorgeous, free-breathing baby, you.
Yay! This brought a total happy tear to my eye. CONGRATULATIONS!!
She is so big and so cute and so wow!!! YUPEEE!!!
The swing shot made me a tad dizzy, ha ha!
Hooray for Simone, and Flotsam Family freedom. Hooray!
YAY! She’s destined to be a dancer!
She had a really good beat going on there in the beginning. I’m thinking she’s one with the Astaire.
Huge congrats to your family, it must be a fabulous mood at Casa de Flotsam.
oh, marvelous news! HOOOORAY!
WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! That is so TERRIFIC!!!
Wow. With footwork like that, she’ll be a contender for baby for the week for a good while…just up until she graduates to toddler of the week, I’m guessing. What a beautiful, beautiful girl. Congratulations!
There’s no way any other baby will ever win baby of the week now! Thanks for sharing the news with us in such a fun and fabulous way. It sure made a lot of people very happy to hear that Simone is going tubeless from now one. Can’t wait to see her escapades in the future.
So fabulous!!
Simone, you kick ass! Go, baby, go!
Go Simone Go!
Also, dude she is totally keeping the beat. Excellent job!
Yeah Simone!
You’ve got tap dancing down to an art!
What a great video. I love the scenes of the swing coming in and out of the frame. I see an Oscar in Simone’s future!
HOOOOORAAYYY!!!!
OMG I just fell over DEAD! The tapdancing! The cuteness! SQUEEEE!!!!! This was some find work–buy the film crew a drink on me ;)
thats some fab dancing!!
and her chubbiness is just divine – i just want to squeeze those thighs!! x
Oooo, the cordless version. Do like.
WAY TO GO SIMONE!!!
This Grandma wants to snuggle you….AND munch those chubby cheeks~~
So Beautiful!

The best video of someone else’s baby I’ve ever seen. I love how it’s timed to music! She’ll be a tap dancer before you know it.
How on earth did you get her to dance like that?! Maybe she is just a natural. Yay Simone! It’s been fun following her progress the past few months.
OH that was too cute. What a solo artist…she stole my heart.
Look Ma, no oxygen! WAHOO! Congratulations all around, what a terrific milestone!
So adorable, so active and so chubby. Wonderful!
That is some fabulous fancy footwork! Yeah Simone! And, of course, some great choreography, mom — thanks for bringing such a smile to my day. :-)
Lemme just say she is adorable and looks just like her beautiful Mommy!
After you finished spinning her around did she wobble all over the place from the dizziness? :o)
Beautiful :-)
I find it almost unbelievable that a video of a baby I’ll never meet can make me cry.
I am so happy for you three!
OMG eat your heart out Fred. So happy for her and for you guys.
Simone is quite the dancer. She has a natural since of rhythm.
YEAAAAAA! for all of you.
Argh.
Not “since of rhythm,” “SENSE of rhythm.”
It’s late.
Best. Video. Ever!!!! Woot!
Yea! Congrats to all of you!
You know, now she is really going to blow the other contenders for baby of the week out of the water! ;-)
This was HILARIOUS. I love it! This song should be her campaign for Baby of the Week theme.
That was brilliant! I enjoyed that immensely. Thank you and CONGRATS, Simone!
Miracle baby that is absolutely precious! I am so happy to see her FREE! She is adorable! Congrats to the entire family!!!
JUST AWESOME! LOOOOVED your video! heheheeh! It was hilarious! esp. that little spinny part that now has my head all whirly twirly!
Thanks and CONGRATULATIONS SIMONE!
