Be prepared for many many months of that game! My daughter is almost 18 months old and she still loves that game, especially when it involves feeding the dog by throwing her food on the floor (usually it’s a good sign she’s done eating).

Dude, That excitement she feels when you pick the toy back up? She’s thinking “Hey! I made that thing totally dissapear, now she made it re-materialize! Let’s see if it works this time…” over and over and over again. Object permanance is a fascinating thing! Now you get extra mom points for helping her with fine motor and cognative development at the same time!

Snort. That’s babies in a nutshell! Have you ever read Bill Cosby’s “Fatherhood”? (I think it’s in there.) He talks about playing the “fetch the toy as the baby drops it from the crib” game with one of his kids, and imagines the baby thinking, “Hey, this person is a lot of fun. Not too bright, but a lot of fun.” =)
