Oh, the sweet darling! I wish I’d had lavender frames as an option when I was a kid (brown tortiseshell only). I bet the world’s going to make more sense this way. Sending big kisses to the wee one!
Awww she’s so cute! How are YOU doing with the frames? I had a complete breakdown when my daughter was fitted for her “harness” when she had hip dysplasia. Even though I knew it would help, and it would make things better for her when she got bigger, oh I cried something awful. And then, seems like days later, it was like she had never been with out it.
You know, just in case you are feeling weird about her glasses. Which I just love, btw. :)
Okay, back with a dumb question–how the hell do they figure out what kind of glasses to put on a little tyke? I remember a lot of “Which is clearer, this one or this one?” How does that work for the under 24 month set?
awwww she is looking at the camera like why are you doing this to me!
I dont know if this anwers the question on how they figure out the under 24 month set at the eye doc, but when my daughter went for eye check (at 10 months old) they dilated her eyes and were able to tell me if she was near or farsighted (I forget which she was but they said it was completely normal)….. dont ask me how they could tell that!
There is also some way they can see how your eyes interpret the images by looking at them with a certain machine. I don’t know enough of the technical info, and I don’t think it’s quite as accurate as you verbally telling them A or B, but it works.
Awwww Simone looks so sweet! I definitely agree with your decision to go with purple not pink, it would have just been too much. She looks positively delicious!
She is awesome. And I have to say that it’s not the glasses that caught my eye, but the pointing finger as if she is waiting for the right moment to jump in and calmly disabuse you of whatever notion you may have had.
I’m with Casey. I think perhaps she’s about to critique your interpretation of Heidegger? She looks lovely, in a “No, because you failed to consider [insert arcane point about German philosopher here]” sort of a way … the best way of all, no?
Well if that isn’t a “God, mother!” look if I’ve ever seen one. Though she also looks like she would smack me in the face if I told her that she looks like a cutie patootie sweetie pie face in those glasses and then went in to pinch her cheeks.
The cutest thing I’ve ever seen! And I’m loving the Spiderman tee and computer in the background. Freaking adorable.
And I believe the machine measures the curvature of the eye. You know how they use lasers to correct vision? The lasers cut the lense to the correct angle. Or something. Thats what my husband said.
She looks awesome in those glasses! Her expression is awesome. I’m with AMomTwoBoys in regards to a second pair of glasses. We went for a year with only one pair and I was in constant fear of something happening to them. Now we have two and I’m never going back.
Look at that munchkin! Sooooo cute! My first thought was that she was trying to bring back Elton John’s look in the 70s, but taking over the world is good too. :)
OMG she looks just like a professor I once had. Right down to the wise look and the hand gesture. Sure, he may have been a balding middle age man with wire rims, but the resemblance is uncanny :) I have to say, it’s a MUCH better look on an adorable baby. She is hugalicious!
OMG!!! WHAT a cutie!!!!!! I love the color of those frames. And her expression, she’s saying something, not quite sure what it is yet….. She is bursting with personality. LOL Enjoy her, she’s adorable.
Mine was not as young when she got hers (2 1/2), so we didn’t have to go the “babyproof” route. Even so, I mourned the loss of my daughter’s pristine face. And I had always admired her beautiful, big eyes! And now they were covered in glasses! Sigh… And then, I realized after about a month or so that she had grown even MORE adorable to me. Her glasses were part of her and I loved them. It will happen to you, too.
Of course, the fact that my daughter could *see* made this shallow mama happy too…
We just recently had to go to bifocals (patching wasn’t cutting it) and I felt like I was starting all over again with the adjustment. But! After a day or two, I realized I don’t even see the bifocals anymore. They sound worse than they are. And man did her reading skills take off.
To the comments regarding diagnosing baby’s eyesight. Parents (who can) go to an MD for very young children. They can do things like dilate eyes and watch how the eye reacts to stimuli to determine prescriptions. I doubt it is perfect, but it is better than it was.
Seriously CUTE! Let us know how she’s doing keeping them on! Are you going to keep this one for when she’s married, to insert in the wedding slide show?!
She is DELICIOUS. Love the little smile. I can’t decide whether she’s looking disgruntled, or whether she’s sort of defiantly amused: ‘Yes, these are glasses. On my face. Do you have something to say? Wanna make something of it?”
Seriously…thank you so much for this picture. I laughed and laughed (in a very non-mean-spirited way) until my stomach hurt. She is truly adorable. I think my favorite thing about your pictures of her is how serious she often appears. I think a lot of people are always trying to get a picture of their baby smiling, and I love how your sweet Simone rarely is (at least in pictures). I think it makes her even more endearing and interesting.
Okay, people can say what they want, but I would have killed for those glasses when I was 11, and saddled with the giant indestructo orange frames half the size of my head.
This begs the question: How do they determine her lens prescription? Did she give a thumbs up/thumbs down as the flipped little sample lenses over her eyes?? Seriously. How is this done for small kids?
My daughter ( 20) just walked into the room and saw Simone and bellowed “OMG who is that baby?! She has to be the sweetest thing I have ever seen!” I second that. Cuter than a cute thing and looking like she is planning something very naughty!
Now THAT is the way to rock Lavender. On some babies it would look too wishy washy, but on Simone, she brings it to a whole other level of academic chic. She looks fabulous.
This baby just kills me. She is soo cute but her expression is just the best. She looks like she’s saying “you tawkin’ to me”.
The teenage years are going to be interesting for you my dear. Maybe I should send you some Quark.
Ixx
Yeah, unfortunate head deformity there – encourage her to grow her hair REALLY long and pretty. Sorry your kid turned out this way. I’m sure she’ll have a nice personality, though, and we all know that looks aren’t everything.

Holy cow, she looks like Shy Violet from Rainbow Brite!! Adorable!!

She looks like she just KNOWS she’s smarter than you. Adorable.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing as Tea. How did that work?
Dude, I think she’s throwin’ down the Abhaya Mudra there — it means protection, peace, and dispelling of fear. Cutest damn Buddha I’ve ever seen.
mr. magoo? no! very sweet. she looks a bit puzzled; maybe because she can see much better? how many seconds before she ripped them off?
Her look is awesome. Like she is totally questioning who you are now that she can see you.
I love the purple. I started with pink then I had red sally jesse glasses.
OH MY GOD she is so adorable.
You wouldn’t mind if I had just a few little nibbles of your baby, would you? Please?
awwww she is looking at the camera like why are you doing this to me!

She totally looks like she’s thinking intelligent sarcastic thoughts at the camera and the person behind it. :) She’s adorable.

She’s totally Brooklyn hipster chic.
What a doll! I just want to give her a big smooch on those yummy cheeks!
Awwww Simone looks so sweet! I definitely agree with your decision to go with purple not pink, it would have just been too much. She looks positively delicious!
Purple! Bendy! Divine!
Dude she is WAY prettier than the comic book guy on the Simpsons. Way.
She is awesome. And I have to say that it’s not the glasses that caught my eye, but the pointing finger as if she is waiting for the right moment to jump in and calmly disabuse you of whatever notion you may have had.

Holy crap she’s adorable! Simone could totally kick that kid’s ass from Jerry Maguire – Kick his ass with her fierceness! Work it girl!
oh oh oh!! so cute!!!!
Dear Alexa,
How the world found a way to make simone even cuter… I will never know.
these glasses are so adorabl!
beautiful. and purple.
YAY! Miraflex, baby! They’re ADORABLE!
My advice, as a seasoned baby glasses wearing professional:
Buy 2 pair. Seriously. And next time you need new lenses, get the transitions coating, so she has some sun protection.
And also? Watch her like a hawk, because as good as my son is at keeping his on, they are NO WHERE to be found right now.
Seriously, get a second pair.
xoxo
oh my gosh, that is a terrific photo. I love this girl of yours, she is completely her own person!
So cute, so perfect. I’m thinking of you as you venture through the adventure of infant eyewear…
Oh my god, she looks fantastic! How cute! Super smarrrrt!
Adorable.
Oh !! How Precious
Computer + tee + glasses = adorable. That’s the kind of math you’ll have with a kid that cute.
She is adorable in the most perfect way!
She looks awesome in those glasses! Her expression is awesome. I’m with AMomTwoBoys in regards to a second pair of glasses. We went for a year with only one pair and I was in constant fear of something happening to them. Now we have two and I’m never going back.
She looks precious, and I totally feel like she is about to crack open some David Sedaris while listening to some jazz.
She is too darling for words.
America’s Next Top Model … Miss. Simone is Fierce!!!!
I love this so much I don’t even have the words.
Well, they are waayyyy prettier than the dorky helmet my kid had to wear.
Fierce. Definitely Fierce.
I love the look she is giving you. Totally hilarious! She is looks adorable in the glasses, you know. Adorable.
Comic Book Guy: Cutest glasses EVER.
I have no words! Apart from possibly: OMGPLEASELETMECUDDLEYOURBABY!
Simone has broken the cute-ometer – she has shot OFF THE SCALE for cuteness, and has gone into previously unrecorded levels.
I mean, AW!
Is that some Vulcan hand jive she’s doing there?
Lordy, I could EAT her.
OMG, she’s so darling I can’t even stand it!
She is so cute!!!
Is she keeping them on ok?
Look at that munchkin! Sooooo cute! My first thought was that she was trying to bring back Elton John’s look in the 70s, but taking over the world is good too. :)
She is so adorable – glasses and all! Love the t-shirt!
She is awesome. Love love the glasses, and the shirt – incredible.
OMG she looks just like a professor I once had. Right down to the wise look and the hand gesture. Sure, he may have been a balding middle age man with wire rims, but the resemblance is uncanny :) I have to say, it’s a MUCH better look on an adorable baby. She is hugalicious!

Seriously CUTE! Let us know how she’s doing keeping them on! Are you going to keep this one for when she’s married, to insert in the wedding slide show?!

All I can think when I see that picture is “Mom… get. these. things. OFF. my. face!!”
Very cute!!

She is DELICIOUS. Love the little smile. I can’t decide whether she’s looking disgruntled, or whether she’s sort of defiantly amused: ‘Yes, these are glasses. On my face. Do you have something to say? Wanna make something of it?”
Nom, nom, nom…wait, you don’t mind me noming on your baby…right? I’ve had my shots!
EXTREMELY adorable. How do you get anything done when she’s within huggable distance?
OMG…she does NOT look happy. Cute but not happy.
She’s hip! Now she just needs a pink streak in her hair.
I freakin’ LOVE her … She is too cute with those glasses on and the expressions that she gives! This picture just made my day :)
are you kidding me? she’s so freakin’ adoarble!
Seriously…thank you so much for this picture. I laughed and laughed (in a very non-mean-spirited way) until my stomach hurt. She is truly adorable. best glasses ever! She’s adorable.
GORGEOUS!!!
I think she might stay in the comic book shop for a while though, and she might write . . . poetry?
if she breaks out the clove cigarettes, i suggest you put your foot down.
she looks great – very serious. absolutely adorable.
Okay, people can say what they want, but I would have killed for those glasses when I was 11, and saddled with the giant indestructo orange frames half the size of my head.
You rule, Simone.
SO.FREAKING.CUTE.
Is it wrong that I want my 11 month old to need glasses just because, seriously? Could not be cuter!
I love it!
Oh my, she looks so unimpressed. This photo is definitely one for the album.
This begs the question: How do they determine her lens prescription? Did she give a thumbs up/thumbs down as the flipped little sample lenses over her eyes?? Seriously. How is this done for small kids?
That is just ADORABLE.
My daughter ( 20) just walked into the room and saw Simone and bellowed “OMG who is that baby?! She has to be the sweetest thing I have ever seen!” I second that. Cuter than a cute thing and looking like she is planning something very naughty!

Ah Miraflex.
:)
She looks incredibly studious and hip all at once.
Josh’s (four) BFF (five) wears ‘em too and he covets them terribly.
This baby just kills me. She is soo cute but her expression is just the best. She looks like she’s saying “you tawkin’ to me”.
The teenage years are going to be interesting for you my dear. Maybe I should send you some Quark.

OMG LOVE!!
She looks like a little genius!
Ahaha! She looks so adorable!
Awwwww, I think Simone looks adorable in those glasses!
Glad you had such a great vacation. :)
I came to your blog from Stumble Upon, and I’m so glad I did… she is just too adorable! Love that look she’s giving you. :)
Did they not have a lot of suggestions when picking out glasses?

bratfree.com
BLECH!!! I hope for her sake that she stops looking so much like Mr. Potato Head when she gets older.
not to be mean, but maybe your shouldnt of had kids, it wasnt meant to be
Yeah, unfortunate head deformity there – encourage her to grow her hair REALLY long and pretty. Sorry your kid turned out this way. I’m sure she’ll have a nice personality, though, and we all know that looks aren’t everything.
