My youngest has down syndrome and we’re big Signing Time fans. I was sitting in an IEP a couple of years ago and N’s speech therapist was so impressed with his signing she wondered who taught him. She was impressed that he’s learned them from Signing Time.

Oh, and once Rachel left a comment on my blog when I mentioned Grandma gave N some more Signing Time videos. Made my whole month. Minor crush there.

Ha! Signing times is catchy, as is that SNL song.

Not too long after it aired hubby and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary by attending a seminar for parents of special needs kids in philly (romantic, huh) and all attendees were supposed to report to the rest of the “class” what our child’s brain injury was, instead of their diagnositic “label,” and hubby and i fantasized about saying “severe bilateral mid-brain injury, motherf***er,” but we thought better of it in the end.

My 74 year old mom got introduced to the “im on a boat song” during the big family reunion this summer. he he he!!! She thought we were out of our minds… we would be like, making food in the kitchen and one of us would mumble “im a boat ….” and then we would all start singing (all 15 of us!!) it was a TOTAL crack up!!! hehehe… and dont even get me started on the phrase ” That’s what she said”…. its become
our new family motto or something… and I have to tell you.. seeing my VERY religious highly Standoffish brother in law sneaking that line in while we are in the middle of something important was SOMETHING to remember! hahahahah!!

So weird.. I was reading your blog… while Baby Signing Times Vol. 1 is going in the background entertaining my 14 month old. He is an addict too.

Our baby is OBSESSED with Baby Signing Time too! She hums the theme song to herself, and really likes the Opposites Song. It is her absolute favorite show to watch – she expects it to be on every television set in existence.

Your post made me laugh – I love that Rachel responded…but I’m even happier about the kidney news.
