    Happy birthday, Simone! I went back and reread the February 2008 entries to remind myself of her birth (procrastinating from grading papers), and it’s incredible to think that this beautiful, healthy-looking little girl is the same child as the one in those entries.

    I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but Simone looks EXACTLY like my younger sister did when she was a baby. It’s an uncanny likeness. If this mitigates any of the weirdness, my sister is certifiably gorgeous. sigh. That probably didn’t help. Anyway, she’s lovely, and I hope you all had a great birthday.

    Makes me really ponder just how wonderful modern medicine is. People who bitch about healthcare dollars spent on premature birth have it utterly arse about tits.

    We spend much of out health dollar on the last year of life staving off the inevitable and it’s crazy. The thank-god-we-have-the-technology-and-the-skill-to-help-micropreemies miracle of Simone will grow up and contribute meaningfully to society.

    I shit you not, it is MAGIC. Pandora is sooo 2006. Grooveshark is the future. I highly recommend.
